High School ENL :
Finish reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time
(Click here for the story) http://www.metropolitancollege.com/curious.pdf
-Review the questions and vocabulary using https://quizlet.com/97858791/the-curious-incident-of-the-dog-in-the-night-time-chapters-2-61-flash-cards/
Christopher doesn't understand the meaning of many commonly used expressions. Use the pictures from the following site https://www.fluentu.com/blog/educator-english/teach-english-idioms/
Scroll to the middle of the page and search for the heading: 10 ESL Idioms Worth Repeating
1) Look at the picture and read the meaning and sample dialogue. Then create your own sentence to go with the idiom. Do this for numbers 1-10.
2) After you have reviewed and written your sentences, please go to the following site
http://browardedfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Idioms-Cake.pdf
Complete worksheet pages 15 and 16 by circling the best meaning of the idioms.
Then complete a writing. Look up the meaning of "to cry wolf". Where do you think that expression came from? Maybe it came from the Boy who Cried Wolf. Why a wolf? How about "curiosity killed the cat." Why a cat instead of some other animal? Use your imagination for both the wolf and the cat idioms presented above. Then research the history of those idioms.
PLEASE EMAIL ME ALL WORK. I look forward to getting your responses and come back for more classwork!
